Set up in 08 kms from Mahalingpur, in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, the hard work put in by the teachers and management of K. J. Somaiya English Medium School, Sameerwadi is best seen in the achievement of the students.

Affiliated with the CBSE Board, the school was established on 15th July 2004, under the aegis of SomaiyaVidyavihar. It provides quality and affordable education to the children of the employees of Godavari Biorefineries, as well as of farmers, merchants and traders from the surrounding villages.

In 2014, responding to students requests, classes for XI & XII in Science stream were added. Besides Sameerwadi, students hail from Handigund, Palbhavi, Kesergoppa, Bisnal, and Mahalingpur.

The sprawling campus K J Somaiya English Medium School, spread over of 5 acres is aesthetically and imaginatively designed to meet the academic, sports and cultural requirements of the students and staff. Particular attention has been paid to blending buildings with evergreen and picturesque surroundings.

Continuing with the philosophy of holistic education of SomaiyaVidyavihar, the school has a strong focus on music, arts, sports and experiential learning. It encourages students to participate in various extracurricular activities including arts, music and sports. An annual Art Mela conducted to nurture the artistic expression of students is made more special with the participation of art teachers from across the district. Students can hone their music talent on campus learning instruments such as Keyboard, Harmonium and Tabla.

Similarly, a Summer Sports Camp has sports instructors from across the state are invited to train the students in handball, football, cricket, aerobics and athletics. The talent of the students (girls and boys) and the efforts of our coaches has seen the school win several awards through the years including at district level in Handball (Boys and Girls), High Jump, and Foot ball.

K J Somaiya English Medium School Girls Handball Team participate and have won in National Level competitions and have been winning semi- final and finals as well.

  • Anubhuti’ (meaning ‘to experience’), a five-day immersive learning programme for the 8th grade students of K J Somaiya English Medium School, Sameerwadi was held at Sirsi in Uttara Kannada District from 1st October to 5th October, 2015.
  • Anubhuti programme was designed and conducted by the Somaiya Centre for Experiential Learning (SCEL) with the help of team of teachers from K J Somaiya English Medium School, Sameerwadi. The programme was focused on natural and cultural heritage. It had a mix of activities that involved site based learning, interaction with experts, hands-on research with forest scientists, interaction with community members and self- reflection. The programme was aimed at helping students develop skills such as scientific inquiry based learning, critical thinking, multi-perspective thinking, planning, team building, leadership, observation, communication, creativity and civic responsibility.
